One of the many players who was billed as the "next Michael Jordan" at one time or another, Stackhouse was one of the major faces for the FILA brand in the mid 90's along with Grant Hill. Back when FILA still had a decent stake in the NBA footwear market, Jerry Stackhouse, who was the #3 pick in the 1995 NBA Draft out of the University of North Carolina, wasted no time getting a signature shoe when he signed with FILA as a rookie for the 1995-1996 NBA season. The Stack was one of the brand's most popular silhouettes.
In this ad from 1996 we get a look at Jerry flying over the Philadelphia skyline in his Stack Mids. He never became the next Jordan (as nobody ever has IMHO) but he had a very solid NBA career as a star player with the 76ers and Pistons and later morphed into a solid role player with the Wizards and Mavs.
This ad was the catalyst for who I identify as today.. A full decade before the ‘The Most Interesting Man in the World’ concept was released by Dos Equis beer in the mid-2000s.
As you can see by the above definition, The Man About Town is me.. And hopefully the Man About Town is you.
